Casting Moulds for Candles, Soap & Resin: Design Guide

Candle makers, soap makers and resin crafters all hit the same wall: the mould shape you want doesn't exist. The Mould Maker designs it in the browser — pick the profile, size it, and we print the mould ready to pour.

What casts well in a printed mould

Getting the cast out

The studio builds draft (a slight taper) into vertical walls so casts release instead of wedging. For wax and soap: a few minutes in the freezer and the cast drops out. A light coat of mould-release spray (or cooking spray for wax) keeps sharp detail clean.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pour hot wax into a printed mould?

Yes — pour at normal candle-making temperatures (below ~85°C). Let it cool naturally; the mould handles many repeat pours.

Do I need a release agent?

For wax and melt-and-pour soap usually not — a freezer chill releases most casts. For resin, plaster and cold-process soap, use a release spray to protect detail.

How many casts will one mould survive?

Dozens for wax and soap when treated gently. Resin is harsher on moulds — for production resin work, cast a silicone master from the printed mould instead.

Can you make a two-part mould?

Yes — deep or undercut shapes are built as split moulds that clip together. If the studio can't draw your shape, ask for a custom quote.

Is the surface smooth?

Printed moulds carry a very fine layer texture that most makers like on the finished cast. For a gloss finish, cast a silicone intermediate.
